Out of the Box Curriculum Sets

We have been getting a lot of questions about curriculum lately which has prompted us to start a series featuring our favorite curriculum.

This week I wanted to focus on out of the box curriculum sets. These are sets that I often suggest to families who are brand new to the homeschool world because once the kit arrives on your porch you are ready to go!!

One of my favorites is Oak Meadow.

Their student-centered, nature-based approach allows families to set their own natural rhythm of learning and encourages creativity, critical thinking, and intellectual development through hands-on activities and interdisciplinary projects.

Athan and I used this curriculum our very first year homeschooling. Julian Charter School stocked it in their lending library and I was so pleased with it!!  I love the way it incorporates art and nature and focuses on the whole child. We are pretty eclectic when it comes to learning at our house and we have tried a lot of different things over the years but I am excited to be bringing Oak Meadow back this coming year for our family!!

Bailey will be setting off with the Kindergarten set, be sure to check out the craft set that goes with it if you prefer to order everything at once. Also notice how parts of the Kindergarten set move with your child through 3rd grade!!

Hudson will be using the 5th grade set, again don’t forget the craft set if you plan to incorporate the art projects. We have been looking at all the wonderful literature we received with the US History course and we are excited to be learning US History and reading some of our favorite titles here at our house again.

One of the perks of having three kids all almost 5 years apart is we get to share our favorite things over and over again!!

I am still shocked that Athan is starting 9th grade this school year and we do not really have a plan on how to make high school at a charter work for us yet, but we were inspired by many of the books included in the Oak Meadow High School Courses. So for fall Athan will be taking Geometry, The Hero’s Journey Literature and Composition, Environmental Science for a Changing World, and World Geography. As we look through the course books we are super excited to see how each subject relies on us to create a personalized experience for Athan letting us research and design our own projects.

There are many other sets that you may want to consider if you are looking for something that helps guide you in your homeschool journey with your children.

If you are a fan of Sonlight curriculum but need a secular version, BookShark may be just what you are looking for!!

With all the planning done, you can use this complete, literature-based, homeschool curriculum to experience an engaging and complete education with your Pre-K to 16 year old students.

Building young minds, one book at a time!

If you are looking for a secular literature based homeschool curriculum, with an eclectic approach, you and your family may enjoy this curriculum!

A complete homeschool curriculum. Your children will grow in their love of learning through the literature-based curriculum that encourages critical and creative thinking, provides challenging and engaging projects, and supports different learning styles.

Amazing curriculum kits that focus on hands on activities and thinking skills. They are available in a variety of sets for children in grades Tiny Tots all the way through 12th grade.

My favorite thing about Timberdoodle kits is that they have taken the time to bundle the homeschool community’s favorite curriculum and project kits all in one package for easy ordering and simple use for families!

They have Standard Kits which include religious materials and they have Non-Religious Kits for those who prefer not to have any religion included in their child’s studies or for those using charter school funds.

If you are homeschooling independently of a public charter school and you are looking for more religious homeschool curriculum kits please look at this wonderful list of curriculum sets on Cathy Duffy’s All in One Programs page on her website!

Happy Homeschooling!!
