This School Days Field Trip (5th-12th Grade) is a multi-modal arts education experience including a preparatory workshop for students, a comprehensive study guide, an interactive Living History, theatre technique workshops and a talkback with cast and crew – in addition to a high-quality professional performance of Animal Farm presented at Theatricum’s beautiful outdoor amphitheatre in the Santa Monica mountains. George Orwell once stated, “Every line I write has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it.” This musical adaptation by Peter Hall is told by a young child, who engages us in a world of talking animals who reject their cruel human master and work to create a world of equality. As the story unfolds we become aware and wary of the all too familiar rhetoric of political and social forces in its disturbing reflection of our world today.

This event comes with a free preparatory workshop taught be the Theatricum’s teaching staff. Sept 25th 10-11:00 at Clover Park, 2600 Ocean Park Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405
